| First Step "Breaking-in" Instructions |
| Please adhere to the techniques listed below: |
• For proper tendue and demi-pointe articulation, gently soften the shank and box by hand. |
• Concentrate on the demi-pointe area of the shank; being careful not to crush the box. |
• Work your way up toward the heel, gently flexing the shank until it is at a point where tendue,
relevé and demi-pointe are comfortable. |
• Softening the box depends on individual need. |
• If softening the box is necessary, concentrate the pressure on either side of the box center. |
• The center of the box is the weakest area. Do not stand on it, as the center is more prone to damage
if stood on. |
• After 1-2 hour lessons or several classes, the shoe will soften and become supple forming perfectly
to your foot. |
• Once the shoe has formed to your foot apply a hardener to the inside of the box and shank. |
• This will not only harden the shoe in its current shape but prevent moisture from entering the shoe. |
• Once the shoes are broken-in correctly and hardened, they will last longer. |
